ABOUT THE CHARITIES

1. What Is The Starship Foundation?

Starship Foundation / Starship Children's Health

The Starship Foundation has been chosen to receive all monies raised for the Starship auction items. Starship was chosen because Lucy Lawless is on the board of the Foundation and also a passionate advocate for the organisation for many years. The Starship Foundation is also AUSXIP Chosen charity and the reason AUSXIP Charity Auction was created for; to raise money for the foundation to help children.

Starship Hospital provides leading health care to nearly 150,000 children each year from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
But in addition to government funding they need your help to raise more than $5 million annually to keep the hospital at the forefront of paediatric care.

As a charitable organisation, Starship Foundation exists through the generosity of those who lovingly donate money and/or time to assist in making Starship a world-class medical facility.

For more information about Starship and the work they do, please visit their site.

2. What Is The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation?

This year the sole beneficiary of the charity auction items for Renee is the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. Money raised from this auction will benefit the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation which is a charity Renee supports. Every year Renee attends the annaul Burn Relay which raises money for the foundation.

The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) is a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing burns and fires and providing services to those who have been affected by a burn injury. AARBF brings together health care providers, firefighters, emergency workers, burn survivors and others to enhance the quality of life for burn survivors and to make burn injuries a thing of the past.

Who is Alisa Ann
At age eight, Alisa Ann Ruch was fatally injured in a backyard barbecue accident in Southern California. Bravely using their tragedy as a catalyst for change, Alisa Ann’s parents, local firefighters and medical professionals joined together and created AARBF in 1971 with the goal of preventing burn injuries by teaching Stop Drop and Roll.

What Do They Do
AARBF supports the fire service and medical community to prevent burns and strives to address the needs of burn survivors throughout all the stages of recovery. AARBF’s staff and volunteers work closely with the community to host prevention programs, raise funds and provide services to burn survivors.

Where Are Are
AARBF is located in San Francisco, Burbank and Fresno and provides services throughout most of California.
