May 03, 2007, Runnemede, NJ - DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT released images and information today regarding the next issues of their all-new Xena series, Dark Xena, from writer John Layman and artist Noah Salonga. Still available for orders and re-orders, Dark Xena #2 is scheduled to ship in June, and the penultimate chapter, Dark Xena #3, is scheduled for a July release. Both issues will be available with covers from Jonathan Lau, Dynamite fan favorite artists Stjepan Sejic and Fabiano Neves, as well as with another great Xena photo cover!

About the new Dark Xena series, DYNAMITE stated, "We know Xena fans expect a certain ‘sense of adventure' when it comes to the Warrior Princess and her legendary journeys, and so far, considering the overwhelming response to our first Xena series ‘Contest of Pantheons', it's quite apparent that writer John Layman knows how to work that ‘sense' flawlessly! Now, with the release of the new series, Dark Xena, John is tying the Dynamite comic book series to regular Xena continuity by explaining how Gabrielle made a deal with an elder god in order to bring her friend back from the dead and the consequences of her doing so-- and it's all done with the pulse-pounding tradition that has made Xena into one of the most appealing action heroines of all time!"

Popularity and praise of Dynamite's Xena series has been outstanding:

From Jerome Maida's article "Xena Returns in New comic Series" in the Philadelphia Daily News, "That sound you hear is a familiar ‘Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi' battle cry. Yes, thanks to Dynamite Entertainment, ‘Xena' is back in her own comic book series and, based on the first four issues, they have knocked it out of the park. This series will succeed where previous attempts to adapt the popular character to comics have failed."

And from a review of Dynamite books on Comics Waiting Room Weekend Blog by Marc Mason, "As someone who didn't watch the show or have any investment in the characters, I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I've enjoyed this book; Xena and the cast really come across as dynamic and intriguing personalities. I'd read a comic about these people stopping to drink a beer, let alone an action extravaganza like this one."
