Starlets come out to shine again
Hollywood celebrates the return of the sexy young unknowns

HOLLYWOOD -- Somewhere between the vamp and the tramp is the starlet. And guess what?  They're hot again.   A little giggle with the jiggle, curves to go with nerve, and there you have it -- the return of the sexpot.

Their profile? Most are in their twenties, usually former models, and likely on the verge of a break through that has Uma Thurman or Cameron Diaz or Gwyneth Paltrow looking over their shapely shoulders.

Denise Richards might be leading the parade. Not far behind are Angelina Jolie and Tara Reid. Natalie Portman, Liv Tyler, Rachael Leigh Cook, Katie Holmes, Lela Rochon and Sarah Polley exude class with their sexy sass. Scream queen of the '90s, Neve Campbell, adds some sauciness. Christine Ricci is the Goth girl in the group.

New in town is Hudson Leick. She can be seen to be believed in the recently-re-leased Chill Factor, but she's best known as the villain Callisto on the syndicated TV series Xena: Warrior Princess.

Close are Reese Witherspoon, Kirsten Dunst and Sara Michelle Gellar. Michelle Williams tries hard. Not as hard as Richards, who has become the poster girl for the starlet wave. First she was all flash and some flesh in Starship Troopers. She followed that up with the quintessential '90s sexpot picture Wild Things, where the sexy melodrama featured Campbell and Richards in a payback picture that could've been called revenge of the starlets.
