Many thanks to Sherri for this transcript New Zealand Herald HEADLINE: "Lucy says 'I do' to $4m home switch" PICTURE: Lucy and Rob -- old pic CAPTION: "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Newlyweds Rob Tappert and Lucy Lawless." (NOTE: they mispelled Tapert, not me :) ) ARTICLE: Being a Warrior Princess may be cold, hard work in the winter (think breastplates), but it does have its advantages - such as great big piles of lovely lolly. And while it's not true that the Xena star, the lovely Lucy Lawless, forked out for round-trip tickets for crew members invited to her LA wedding to producer Rob Tappert, it is true she's got digs to the tune of more than $4 million (the 1997 Government valuation) for a Doug Myers cast-off in Mission Bay. The mansion is by all accounts quite magnificent, sweeping staircase et al, and a big leap with several back flips and a shrill scream upwards from her previous Mt. Albert abode valued at a mere $360,000 (seems a lot for New North Rd, if you ask me). Tipplers at Ponsonby's Oval bar were witness to the $4 million-plus deal being clinched - although settlement's not yet completed. The phone call saying Lucy says, "I do," came through by mobile to a sweaty real estate agent who fumbled with his phone, which promptly dropped to the floor and fell apart. A few deep breaths and another phone call later it was a done deal and the bubbles - vintage of course - flowed. Don't even try to work out his cut - it's too depressing. It has to be said, though, that in a strange twist, nobody resents Lucy her good fortune. Unlike a lot of long-legged lovelies with their very own bosoms and lots of loot, she's remained the same charming woman she always was - a real princess who by all accounts looks out for the little guy and whose only enemes are imaginary ones, usually speaking bad American and wearing wigs. by: Sara-Kate Lynch
