Lucy Lawless on Bulimia and Anorexia

January 11, 1999:

"Xena" star Lucy Lawless has nothing good to say about the plethora of anorexic-looking actresses now inhabiting Hollywood. "Anorexia sort of bores me," says Lawless in USA Weekend magazine's Jan. 15-17 issue. She adds, "To any girls out there who are thinking of it, or are just getting into it, just quit your bloody nonsense! Enough already! It's a total waste of time."

The statuesque, 5-foot-10-inch New Zealander says she speaks "from a little bit of experience. I used to quite like bulimia. I used to think that was fun." But now she knows that nothing could be further from the truth. "You think you're going to get respect, attention, blah, blah, blah, and it's quite the opposite. People are turned off."
