Message from Nora & Cat
Hi
Everyone!
Team Amazon finished the Aids/Lifecycle Ride 8 with flying colors! It was by
far the most challenging thing we have ever done and we are crazy enough to want
to do it again next year.
The ride was both physically and emotionally challenging but we came away
with the most amazing sense of peace and calm. To see so many of us who have
lost loved ones to Aids or know someone who is fighting Aids and HIV everyday,
including some of the riders themselves, come together and approach this
grueling event with such optimism and joy was so awe inspiring that we will
certainly carry that sense of compassion all the days of our lives. It was both
heartbreaking and heartwarming to say the least. We can only believe that
because our community has spent so much time sidestepping hurdles and obstacles
that label us second class citizens, we have chosen to embrace the battles with
laughter and an amazing sense of humor. To say the days were filled with much
laughter and unconditional love, would be an understatement. In the end Team
Amazon will have raised approx $13,000 and overall, the ride raised 10.5 Million
Dollars for both the San Francisco Aids Foundation and the Los Angeles Gay
and Lesbian Center. Well done for your part Xenaverse!!
Our bikes held true although Cat may have broken the record for total flats on
the ride. Her number being 8!! Except for whenever we passed horses or
bookstores along the way, our mascot kept true to her post and kept an eye on
the road and made it a safe ride all the way to camp everynight. Thanks again
for all your amazing support before and during the ride. We could NOT have done
this without you.
Team Amazon has so many people to thank and would like to start with
the following: First and Foremost the most amazing and talented MaryD!! We owe
you so much but you will have to do with our eternal support, love, and
servitude!! For donating auction items we thank; Lucy and Renee (Divas of the
Greater Good!!), Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Sharon Delaney, Creation, Ms Romero,
Kim, Paige and the Cast of 3Way, Andrew Miller and Eden Reigel, Godd-ess
and She, the cast of NCIS, Lida, and KT. Thank you Ann, for your assistance.
To Maureen, Tidds, Pam, and the entire UK Xenite group for having a xena
get-together on orientation day of our ride and calling to tell us they raised
160 pounds to our effort. You guys Rock!! Christa and Missy Good for your
efforts. We each have our own individual thanks we will give but send out
massive love to our friends and family who stood by us before, during, and after
the ride. We are fortunate people indeed!!!
Much Love,
Cat, Nora, and Roadie Sandy!!
Message from Nora & Cat!
Hello Everyone,
Cat and I would like to thank everyone for all your support in our effort to
participate as Team Amazon in the Aids/Lifecycle Event 8 taking place in three
weeks!!! The seven day ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles will test us
physically and mentally but we could not be more determined to complete it for
ourselves, and for those that never will get the opportunity.
We especially want to all of you who returned to our Aids
Lifecycle Auction that MaryD has so graciously hosted at
Ausxip.com.
As you may well know, her site was hacked and when this happened our auction
page and all the bids were totally erased. Mary, the magician that she is put
everything back up and we are just so grateful to see everyone coming back to
continue biding. The first phase of the auction ends this Sunday May 10, 2009
and we want everyone to go check out what awesome goodies are available and
consider bidding and become an honorary Team Amazon Member. We will bring you
along with us in spirit every mile we ride.
I will leave you all with the words of our cycling representative that has
instilled such pride in this effort for Cat and I: Revel in the knowledge that
YOU are making a difference. Your very presence on the Ride
(And those of you who have supported us) means you have allowed someone to
receive an HIV test, free of charge. It means you allowed someone, who has just
lost their health insurance, to turn to the Jeffrey Goodman Special Care Clinic
and receive personal, professional care. It means that someone can receive
their lifesaving medications. It means they get to wake up tomorrow and spend
another day on this planet we call home.
Together we are the keepers of light and hope. Thank you so much for your
support, it means the world to so many of us.
peace,
Nora and Cat Team Amazon / AIDS LifeCycle Auction New

Hi folks,
I have to say I am beyond stoked about this figure - I'm thrilled to tiny
little bits that in this economic tough time, people have been so generous with
their time, their money and their willingness to give for the greater good.
I've just received the final figure from Starship together with the ROC
Outreach Fund and Adrienne's charity.
The figure comes to $18,165.24
Last year we raised $16,173.86 which is an increase of $1992!
I want to take the time to thank my two sidekicks - Roger and Christa for
their hard work in shipping everything out and the support they have given me
throughout the auction. I'm so proud of them and also proud of this fandom.
Thank you also goes to those who came up to me at the last convention or emailed
and gave me items or offered their help and in particular Julie Eaton, Kim
Manrique, Mesh & Bev, KG MacGregor, Val Foster, Barbara Bruno, Marilyn Edwards,
Tiger and Tracy. Hopefully I haven't forgotten anyone. You guys rock.
I also want to take the time to thank our Xena alumni who took the time to
make this auction even more special: Lucy Lawless, Renee O'Connor, Adrienne
Wilkinson, Katherine Fugate, Steven Sears, Melissa Good and Simone Lahbib (who
isn't a Xena alumni but took the time to help out and has been adopted as one).
Thank you everyone!

AUSXIP Supports Team Amazon in SF to LA Bike Ride
I'm very proud to announce that AUSXIP will support two very special women
in the 7 Day, 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a
world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. From
May 31-June 6, 2009, Cat and Nora (Team Amazon) are cycling to Los Angeles
from San Francisco. This bike ride isn't going to be easy but those two are
going to do it.
The team goal is to raise $8,000 in 3 months. There will be several fund
raising projects in the works including a special auction on AUSXIP Auctions
and some very special goodies. If you want to donate directly to them
without waiting for the auction or other fundraising events you can do so
from today:
Support Cat and Nora as they ride to Los Angeles and let's help them raise
$8000 for a very worthy cause!

A
dear friend decided last year to go on a triathlon to raise money for the
Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Despite having knee problems and never having
done a triathlon before, Cat embarked on this awesome adventure.
It takes a special kind of person to be able to do something like this and Cat
is one very special lady.
Click here to read her report and view some amazing pictures
Cat crossing the finishing line made me smile because Cat not only went in it,
competed and finished but she achieved something special for herself as well as
raising money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Cat's next adventure is AIDS/LifeCycle, a fully supported, 7-day bike from
San Francisco to Los Angeles, May 31 – June 6, 2009.
AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San
Francisco AIDS Foundation and is designed to advance their shared interest to
end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS.
Fans of SX Meagher may remember reading about this ride as a backdrop to Sue's
great novel I Found My Heart In
San Francisco - Book 2 Beginnings
AUSXIP will once again support Cat on this great adventure! As the time
approaches, I will be posting a link to the page that will have Cat's donations
and other ways to help.

Coming in 2009 will be the annual AUSXIP Charity Auction to benefit Starship
Children's Health and the Renee O'Connor Outreach Fund (several more charities
will be included).
These two charities are two of the charities that AUSXIP supports.
Watch this space for news about the upcoming AUSXIP Charity Auction coming in
March 2009. We've held our auction for the last 2 years and it's been a mega
success thanks to the generosity of Xena fans. We all know enormously generous
fans in this fandom and the way we come together.
We look forward to bringing you more news about this auction soon.
