AUSXIP Charity Auction Site Back Online

Hi folks,

After the AUSXIP Hacker Meltdown back in May, the auction site went kaboom and I had to bring up the backup ausxip auction site. After a short hiatus, it's now back to the AUSXIP Charity site with some new software and hopefully more secure site.

This is brand new so you will need to register again. The next auction is going to be Adrienne Wilkinson's Official Fan Club Charity Sale which is due in Mid November.

After the OAWFC Charity Sale, the next scheduled auction will be the huge AUSXIP Annual Auction to raise money for Starship and the ROC Outreach Fund. This will be in March 2010.

Many thanks!

Amazing Whale Video

I love animals and in particular huge giant whales and all forms of cats (domestic and wild). I've had this fascination since I was a kid and Sydney is blessed every year with a whale migration that sees these magestic creatures coming very close to the shore. We even have an albino whale that Sydney has adopted. He migrates down the east coast of Australia every year and it's such a joy. You can read more about Migalo (which means "white fellow" in the Australian Indigenous language) and he is extremely rare white whale - look at his wiki page

This blog is not about Migalo. The following is from the BBC site about a female whale letting some males fight to be her mate. The footage is just INCREDIBLE. These giants of the sea are just so beautiful even when they battle it out.

Epic humpback whale battle filmed

It is the greatest animal battle on the planet, and it has finally been caught on camera.

A BBC natural history crew has filmed the "humpback whale heat run", where 15m long, 40 tonne male whales fight it out to mate with even larger females. During the first complete sequence of this behaviour ever captured, the male humpbacks swim at high speed behind the female, violently jostling for access. The collisions between the males can be violent enough to kill. The footage was recorded for the BBC natural history series Life.

Angie Harmon In New TV Series

angie_harmon_5052682.jpgAngie is one of my favourites and I'm stoked to see the following press release about her new show!

Angie Harmon Takes on Title Role in RIZZOLI, A TNT Pilot Based on Tess Gerritson's Popular Mystery Novels

Pilot from Warner Horizon Written by Janet Tamaro (Bones) and Executive-Produced by Tamaro and Bill Haber

Angie Harmon, who played leading roles on Law & Order and Women's Murder Club, is returning to the crime-solving world as the title character in RIZZOLI, a new TNT pilot based on Tess Gerritson's popular Jane Rizzoli mystery novels. The pilot, which comes to TNT from Warner Horizon Television, is being written by Janet Tamaro (Bones, Lost) and executive-produced by Tamaro and Bill Haber's Ostar Productions (TNT's Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King, TCM's upcoming Moguls and Movie Stars: A History of Hollywood). Michael M. Robin (TNT's The Closer) will direct and executive-produce the pilot.

"Angie Harmon is not only a terrific actress, but also a favorite of crime drama fans," said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "She will bring a combination of toughness and sensitivity to the challenging lead role. We're thrilled to have Angie on board for what could be an outstanding addition to TNT's collection of strong female characters."

Harmon earned four consecutive Screen Actors Guild Award nominations as part of the ensemble cast of Law & Order, in which she played assistant district attorney Abbie Carmichael. Harmon also portrayed Detective Lindsay Boxer in Women's Murder Club. Harmon's other television series credits include guest appearances on Samantha Who?, Chuck, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, as well as regular roles on C-16: F.B.I. and Baywatch Nights. On the big screen, she co-starred in such movies as Fun with Dick and Jane, with Jim Carrey; Agent Cody Banks, with Frankie Muniz; End Game, with Cuba Gooding Jr.; Seraphim Falls, with Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson; and Lawn Dogs, with Sam Rockwell. In 2008, Harmon co-starred with Harry Connick Jr. in the acclaimed Lifetime movie Living Proof.

5.jpgThe following message has been posted by Sharon regarding the next issue of the Official Xena Photo Club which has new episode stills for Friend In Need.

There's a couple there that I can go without ever seeing again but there are some gorgeous ones in particular #5 (Xena) and #6 (Gabrielle). #2 is a little disturbing and #4 a lot disturbing..hate that particular scene..despise it with a passion.

The message reads:

Photos From A Friend In Need

You have got to check out the Xena photo club for June and July. It's "A Friend In Need." I found some stunning shots of Lucy and Renee and also scenes we've never had stills from before. Take a peek.

Cupcakes For Starship

Calling All Kiwis in Auckland...

From midday till midnight, on Friday October 16th, the OH.NO.SUMO team and their wonderful helpers will be selling delicious cupcakes from a pavilion, constructed entirely of corrugated cardboard, at the Britomart precinct. All to raise money for the Starship Childrens Hospital.

After forming in early 2009, the OH.NO.SUMO team set their sights on Auckland Architecture Week 09 with the goal to use design in a fun and exciting way, to give back to the community with a unique project. What says community more than a bake sale! An event that draws one and all to enjoy delicious treats together. For only $2.00 people will be able to choose their own parcel of baked goodness to enjoy around our sculptural pavilion.

With such a child-like event it seems only fitting that we put our efforts towards helping children. It was therefore an easy decision, that all proceeds from the sale of the cupcakes will go to the Starship Children's Hospital, which in turn will help to put a smile on a few more faces. The wonderful people at Delish Cupcakes also saw the potential for this community event and are generously giving their time and skill to donate 1000 cupcakes to fill our pavilion and share a bit of happiness throughout Auckland's CBD.

The excitement of a unique architectural feature and the knowledge that enjoying a delicious treat will be helping the community, means that the best place to be on the afternoon of Friday 16th October is at the Britomart Precinct enjoying a cupcake from the OH.NO.SUMO Cup Cake Pavilion raising money for the Starship Children's Hospital.
