Messages of Thanks
I received quite a few emails from the various writers
and producers who are getting refreshed by the Xenaverse...I'm passing on
their thanks to you all..
From: Drew Fuller ("Trevor
LeBlanc" on Army Wives)
FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND KEEPING US MOTIVATED.

"Trevor LeBlanc" on Army Wives
From: Dee Johnson (Executive Producer,
Army Wives)I understand you've organized
fans in helping keeping us picketing writers fed. I
can't tell you how much it means to us out on the
lines. While we get mostly positive reactions from
passersby, not everyone is as supportive as you and the
other fans have been.
Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and your
time/energy/passion is very much appreciated. Thanks
again.

From:
Cynthia Cohen (Producer, "Army Wives")
MaryD and Xena fans, you rock!
On behalf of Katherine Fugate and her posse (that'd be
us), thank you...

"Army Wives"
From: Melissa Ponzio (Actor, "Angie" - Army Wives)
Hope this finds you well. My name is Melissa Ponzio and
I'm one of the actors on Army Wives. Katherine F. the
head writer keeps us all up to date with the strike.
She had some wonderful things to say about you and your
support of the WGA. Thanks so much for all that you are
doing for them, and for us in the long run...
Take care-
Melissa
From: Jeff Vlaming (Xena Writer - Jeff wrote a Season 4
(Takes One To Know One) and Season 5 (Purity)
from an intrepid picket line walker (and a former Xena
writer) I thank all you guys for your support and for
keeping us
hydrated intrepid picket line walkers.

From: Rodney Vance
I'm strike captain at the Riverside Drive gate of the Disney
Studios, right around the corner from the Buena Vista gate
where Steven Sears and Katherine Fugate picket. Like those
at the Buena Vista gate, we have benefited from the drinks
the fans have provided. Our shift runs from 11am to 2pm and
some days it gets pretty hot. Your drinks keep us going.
Many, many thanks!
In solidarity,
Rodney Vance
From: Kay Foster (Xena Writer for quite a few episodes
-
click here to see the list)
A picketer on the WGA lines tells me you all are
responsible for providing liquid refreshment to striking
writers. Although I am not picketing at Disney, I am a
former writer on Xena and I wanted to give you a shout
out of thanks: THANKS! It is so kind and thoughtful of
you. And I know it is much appreciated. My writing
partner, Adam Armus and I have gone on from Xena to work
on other shows, most recently Heroes. If you haven't
found this show, I hope you will. Xena fans rock! All
the best to you...and Happy Holidays! Kay Foster
From: Adam Armus (the other half of the
writing duo)
Just wanted to send my thanks to you as well (I know
that Kay already sent you a letter). Please extend my
heartfelt gratitude to everyone in the Xenaverse who
supports us in this trying, but noble endeavor. It
means a lot.
Best,
Adam Armus
From: Larry Moskowitz
As one of the regular picketer at the Disney, Buena
Vista gate, I want to thank you for providing the water
and beverages that you've been dropping off. We just
learned today that the Xenaphiles are responsible for
all this liquid treats we've been enjoying. Your
support means a lot to us.
I never wrote for "Xena," but a good writer friend of
mine named John Schulian worked on the show and I know
he'll be pleased when I tell him what a great bunch of
fans his show has generated.
Best regards,
Larry Moskowitz
From: Alan Cross
Thanks, Mary,
It was hotter than hell today and I want you to know we
really appreciate your group's donation of beverages!
best wishes and all our undying gratitude,
Alan Cross
From: Nancylee Myatt
Dear Mary D., I'm Nancylee Myatt, one of the regular
writers on the picket line at the Buena Vista Gate at
Disney. And I just wanted to send out my heartfelt thanks
for the cases of water that I understand have come from you
and the Xena fans. Such a thoughtful show of your support
-- which is keeping us going. While I didn't write on Xena
I can tell you this, there is nothing more important than a
loyal fan base for any series. It is what keeps us on the
air, but it is also really the nod that we are doing a good
job, pleasing you, and making the world safe for TV... well,
maybe it's not quite that noble. But you get my drift.
Thanks again -- I hope that we will not be in need of your
gift of water for too much longer. And that we'll all be
back at work doing what we love for those that appreciate
it.
Best,
Nancylee
From: Tom Schnauz
I received a note today from Tom, the Strike Captain at
the Disney picket line that I would like to pass on and
also from Steven.
I told Tom we fully support their strike and they
have been adopted into the Xenaverse via Katherine and
Steven and we all know what happens when the Xenaverse
adopts someone :)
Here is his message:
I was not a writer for "Xena," but I've been
enjoying the spoils of
their dedicated fans. I can't express enough what a
tremendous help the water and Gatorade and iced teas
have been to us at the Disney gate during this time.
Especially on a day like today when the temperature has
been getting high in Burbank, the beverages keep us
energized during our walks.
Thank you very much. I'm sure you'll be hearing
from more of us soon now that we have your e-mail.
Thanks again,
Tom Schnauz
and here is the message from Steve
By the by, once again, on the picket line, the
Strike Captain sought me out and made a big to-do about
the Xena fans and all the water being sent. He asked
for a contact, so I gave him your website address and
told him to write you directly. He's been telling all
the Writers on the line about the Xenite generosity and
wants to send a thank you out to them. And all day,
people were coming up to me and asking if it was true
that fans of a long canceled show were providing all the
water.
:)
Steve
The following is from Katherine (and posted on Talking
Xena)
hey all and sundry --
yet ANOTHER generous drop came to the disney gate today
from the xenaverse. have tell you - it's so humbling and
inspiring. the mostly male WGA writers always walk up to
me with shock on their faces when i arrive, saying,
"they did it AGAIN!" and i smile, realizing, then say,
"you don't know the power of the xenaverse."
your gift was especially appreciated today as i'm sure
many of you have read, the AMPTP's "groundbreaking" deal
was anything but. the lowball offer -($250 flat fee
residual after 6 weeks FREE downloading for an 1 hour
show and ZERO for feature films) has only served to
unite us even more in our fight to receive a fair deal
from the major corporations.
if you have any questions about the strike - please
visit
my website or
www.unitedhollywood.com.
and thank you again for understanding and supporting
writers! (and also actors, because SAG will be next and
we're hoping that with union solidarity and by
bargaining first, we can assure them a fair deal equal
to ours.)
katherine
Many thanks...
- Many thanks to those who have donated for
the AUSXIP Xenaverse WGA Strike Support
donations. Another shipment of water, gatorade,
tea, sunscreen lotions, crystal light flavouring
and one box of energy boost will be delivered to
the striking writers tomorrow.

Katherine has updated her site with a great challenge
for Army Wives fans, Kim Delaney (Claudia Joy) fans AND a
way in helping the strikers!
"on Thursday, November 8th, the creators of Smallville
offered a challenge to all of the other TV series who have
devoted fan bases to see whose fans can really deliver the
goods (in this case, pencils).
"Don't get me wrong," Al Gough told his fans, "We are stoked
by the response so far, but we felt there must be something
we can do to really light a fire under it going into the
holidays."
so Al and Miles decided to give the gift of Lex. Lex
Luthor, that is.
for every box of environmentally friendly pencils Smallville
fans buy at
Pencils2MediaMoguls in the name of Smallville, their
name will be entered into an e-raffle. A winner will be
picked at random and they will receive both a phone call
from actor Michael Rosenbaum and an autographed photo
thanking them for their support of the cause and the show.
well now. that was a gauntlet thrown, wasn't it?
so indeed, the cast and creator of Army Wives have decided
to accept Smallville's challenge!
for each box of pencils our fans buy in support of Army
Wives they will receive an entry into an e-raffle where one
supportive fan will receive a phone call and an autographed
photo from Kim Delaney (Claudia Joy Holden) personally
thanking them for their support of the cause and the show.
(if it ups the stakes any, we'll see if we can get one of
those sexy lacy shots that Drew Fuller snatched and hid in
his cave for winter.)
that is right, Kim will call you directly! so click on the
Pencils2MediaMoguls banner below and make sure you list
Army Wives as the show you are supporting. remember, it's
only a buck a box!
and as always, thank you all for your support. we all feel
it each and every day!
also, Kim Delaney and Nikki Finke (of Deadline Hollywood
Daily) will be the guests on United Hollywood's live radio
broadcast about the strike this Friday. Kim will be on at
12:30pm discussing growing up in a union household.

A special
delivery was made to the writers today (19 November 07) of
some goodies to refresh them while they are walking the line
on behalf of the Xenaverse.
Steven has posted on his myspace blog about this:
and the following is Katherine's response :)
Message from
Katherine Fugate
A very
special thank you to the Xenaverse for the delivery of
much-loved goods to Disney today. I was touring all three
picketed gates (read: looking for the best snacks) with
Steven Sears, when a writer walked up and thanked me for the
treats delivered that morning. I was completely perplexed
and said I didn't send anything -- when he said the Xena
fans did in my and Steven's name. I was both humbled and
proud as all get out.
I went
on to explain to the gaggle of writers how enduring and
bright the Xenaverse is. Told the tales of charity drives
and camaraderie and how I've taken that spirit of getting
each others' backs to Army Wives.
In
that enduring model of friendship, Renee O'Connor, who
wanted so desperately to walk the line with me but is
presently out of town -- tipped the surprise at a recent
Power Up awards show that she will be in at least a
3 arc storyline of Army Wives this season. So just
as you have my back - I have our gal's!
Thank
you again.
Katherine

Do you want to help support
the strike? Here are a few things which non-picketers can do
(this is specific to the US)
1. Write a letter to the editor of a local publication
(and maybe share a copy with writeraction or the
comments at hollywoodunited so it can inspire or
motivate the members even if it's not published by the
newspaper).
2. Post pro-writer comments on websites that tend to be
dominated by anonymous anti-writer trolls (the LA Times
blog is one of the worst IMHO).
3. Call in to talk radio shows that deal with the this
issue.
4. Email or write letters of criticism to journalists
who publish biased or erroneous information. Journalists
will sometimes respond to criticism by attempting to
acknowledge the other side in their next articles (I
know it's rare, but it does happen.) The key here is to
be polite to them.
5. Write letters of criticism to TV and radio stations
about the bias of their reporting. TV and radio stations
don't get that many letters so they are perhaps more
influenced by the ones they get. Mentioning a possible
complaint to the FCC can get their attention.
6. Write local California politicians, arguing the
employees' side of the conflict, and urging them to
intevene on behalf of a fair settlement and not the
companies' position of a 50% cut in income for their
employees.
