We Love Lucy -
Interview with Lucy Lawless
Dressed as Cleopatra in a toga with short black hair for the season five episode
Anthony
and Cleopatra, LUCY LAWLESS takes a break from filming a scene in a royal Egyptian
bedchamber to give KATE BARKER the lowdown on dividing her time between saving the known
world and motherhood, what goes on at the cast and crew parties and why co-star Renee
O'Connor doesn't suffer as many injuries on the set as Lucy does...

Tales of the Century
Birth,
death and the fall of gods are the key ingredients of Xena's eagerly awaited
fifth season adventure, Seeds of Faith. But the episode's epic storyline isn't
the only thing that will earn it a place in the history books. Kate Barker reports from
the set of a very special Xena episode...

Behind The Scenes - Lyre Lyre Hearts on
Fire
The interior set resembles something out of a Las Vegas cabaret. Multi-coloured disco
lights hang just out of sight of the cameras. Spark-jets on either side of a sequinned
throne are primed for their mid-scene pyrotechnic display... and Amazons and dancing boys
in glittering gold shorts stand ready to perform.
Behind The Scenes - Punch Lines
Flashback episodes (or clip shows, as they're called in the world of television) are
always a lot of fun. While the characters reminisce about old adventures, the audience
gets to look hack on past episodes and favourite scenes. Not only that -- since many of
the scenes have already been filmed for previous episodes, clip shows also allow the
production crew a welcome opportunity for a shortened filming schedule.
New Xena costume designer Jane Holland
Costume designer JANE HOLLAND has taken on an Olympic mission, as Kate Barker
discovers. Previously responsible for creating costumes for Young Hercules,
Holland has
recently taken on a very daunting role. She is now costume designer for Xena: Warrior
Princess, having taken over from Ngila Dickson, who departed to design costume for the
Lord of the Rings feature film trilogy.

"Hot Gossip" Interview with Renee
O'Connor
For Renee O'Connor, Animal Attraction, came as light relief from the beginning
of Xena: Warrior Princess season five. Broadly, the episode deals with issues
surrounding relationships, both between new characters and the established cast. "The
entire cast and crew needed a bit of a mental break," O'Connor explains, "so we
decided to have an episode that's all about gossiping and relationships."
Behind The Scenes - Them Bones Them Bones
Somewhere in the episode Them Bones, Them Bones, Xena (Lucy
Lawless) and Amarice (Jennifer Sky) ride through the forest, engaged in serious
discussion. The scene is brief -- a few seconds' worth of two warriors heading their
horses casually along a dirt track -- yet this one shot lakes over an hour to film.
Behind The Scenes - Purity
It's a chilly winter's day on the set
of Xena: Warrior Princess. Between takes, the Special Effects team have set up to
test a literally explosive effect. After a quick check that everyone still has their ear
plugs, somebody flicks a switch. A computer controlled explosion sends smoke, flame and
lots of sand flying high into the air.

O'Connor from the Official Xena
Magazine - November 1999 - Issue #1
RENEE O'CONNOR'S directorial debut was one of Xena's occasional clip shows. Set in the
present day, it starred familiar actors in unfamiliar roles - sort of... Here's a brief
reminder of the episode, after which O'Connor shares her thoughts on directing Dèjá Vu
All Over Again.
Angel Gabrielle - Interview with Renee O'Connor
from The Official Xena Magazine - November 1999 - Issue #1
Being 'the peaceful one' on Xena: Warrior Princess brings new challenges to actress
Reneé O'Connor. But, as a veteran of the Mickey Mouse Club, she should be able to handle
it.Interview by Ian Spelling. "This season, Rob [Tapert, the executive producer] put
my character on this spiritual path of non-violence." Renee O'Connor mulls over the
changes in Gabrielle's nature over the last year. "She only wants to help people be
peaceful and loving." And this is the Gabrielle who's cheered Xena's asswhupping for
going on for five years now? Apparently so.
