Xena Episode Stills and Artwork Season 3 Episode 7 The Debt Part 2

xwp-S3-Debt2-002

Xena Warrior Princess Season 3 Episode 7
The Debt Part 2

View Episode Stills | Read Review

Xena (Lucy Lawless) narrowly escapes execution for attempting to kill the ruthless young Emperor Ming T'ien (Daniel Sing) and finally repays the debt she owes her spiritual mentor, Lao Ma (Jacqueline Kim).

This was, without a doubt, one of Lucy's best peformances. That one scene where she is facing off against Gabrielle, who betrayed her to Ming Tien and that single tear running down her face after Gabrielle slaps her, is just about near perfect. Lucy's acting blew me away. Superb. Just superb. Lucy can convey so much without uttering a single word.

Here is my artwork for the episode:

Image

The Daily Beast has a listing of TV's 10 Butt-Kickingest Babes list and guess who is on the list:

Xena (Lucy Lawless), Xena: Warrior Princess

You wouldn't want to find yourself on the wrong end of a broadsword wielded by warrior princess Xena (Lucy Lawless) in the cult series that ran for six seasons in syndication. Xena battled her way across ancient Greece, locking horns with Gods and all manner of mythical creatures.

Are Obsessive Fans Ruining the Internet?

ImageBrent Hartinger from AfterElton.com recently interviewed me as part of an article about Fans and fandom. The article is called Are Obsessive Fans Ruining the Internet?

It's a fascinating look at how fans can cross the line between being a fan and being a fanatic. This issue has been getting progressively worse and some sites won't cover certain shows because of the caustic response from fans of that show.

I truly believe that fandom in general can do amazing things but there are those who cross that line. Have a read of Brent's article which is very well written (and not because he interviewed me as part of the article!)

Xena & Gabriellle - Gay Characters We Love From Sci-Fi Movies & TV

Blastr has an interesting article on 20 Gay Characters We Love From Sci-Fi movies & TV

Homosexuals and the heterosexuals who love them have a reason to celebrate: Proposition 8, the amendment to the California constitution that only recognizes marriage between a man and a woman, was recently overturned. It's just the excuse we need to give a shout-out to our some of our favorite characters who happen to be gay.

ImageXena, Xena: Warrior Princess.
Xena was strong, tough, fearless enough to command armies and sultry enough to command the attention of lesbians everywhere (see "Gabrielle"). Although Xena had male lovers, including Julius Caesar, Hercules and Borias, the father of her son Solan, she chose to spend her time with Gabrielle, her friend and companion (then enemy, then friend again). The lesbian subtext between the powerfully built warrior Xena and her more feminine friend Gabrielle was eventually played up to the point where they were taking baths together. Despite the ambiguity that made watching the show a fun yet coded adventure, actress Lucy Lawless decided the lesbian subtext wasn't just subtext after watching that final kiss.

Image

Gabrielle, Xena: Warrior Princess

Xena, Warrior Princess wasn't just a TV show: It was a cult phenomenon that kept lesbian bars tuned in every week for Xena Night. The show is about Xena and Gabrielle, two women traveling the ancient world, fighting injustices. Gabrielle started off as Xena's scrappy gal pal, in awe of Xena's warrior prowess, but evolved into the Battling Bard of Potidaea. Despite flirtations with men, and a brief marriage to Perdicus, Gabrielle remained devoted to Xena, as proven by multiple kisses and "I love you"s—and one very butch haircut. And the scene in the finale where Gabrielle saves Xena with a "water transfer" kiss is absolutely the hottest lesbian kiss in the genre.

Xena (Lucy Lawless) and Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) Xena: Warrior Princess

Badass credentials — Xena and Gabrielle are the standard bearers of lesbian badassery. Every other lesbian and bisexual badass in the world should aspire to their greatness. They should place Xena and Gabrielle's badass photos beside their beds and worship Xena and Gabrielle's badass DVDs on an alter each morning while eating Xena and Gabrielle's badass cereal for breakfast each morning out of Xena and Garbrielle's badass collectible bowls. Xena and Gabrielle will never be out-badassed. Ever.

I’m always looking to get on a show that actually has a life. I’m developing a twitch from being on all these fabulous critically acclaimed shows that never see the light of day.

I was struck by how smart Huge was. How funny it was without being precious, which was refreshing
