Xenite Ann Pilichowski Loses Her Battle with Cancer–Passes Away on September 13

Image636094877492366950Ann Pilichowski has passed away on 13 September 2016. Ann was only 54 years old.

It's raining today. A heavy steady rain outside and it's 5:50 am. I woke up to the news that Ann Pilichowski has passed away. Her fight is over. She fought but couldn't defeat the beast. We want to believe that when confronted by this beast, we can overcome it. Sometimes we win and sometimes this beast wins. There is no preparing for death, there is no way you can condition your heart to accept death. I'm heartbroken that a wonderful human being has been taken. To her family and friends, my heartfelt condolences. Nothing I say today will help with the grieving but I say it because it needs to be said. I am reminded of a saying that I think of when we lose those we love and it doesn't make the feeling of the loss any less - how could any words do that - but you are enriched because you knew them.

"Say not in grief 'she is no more' but live in thankfulness that she was"

Thank you Ann. I'm enriched for having known you and our last time together was filled with a great deal of laughter and friendship. We will meet again. Until then you will live on in our memories and though we are heartbroken, death cannot extinguish our memories.

The Xenite Memorial will be updated in deep sorrow and a heavy heart.

Our community, this awesome Xenaverse, is a giant family and we have known each other for over twenty years. Please if you can, please donate to help Ann's family with the funeral costs. Let's help our own and shoulder some of the burden.

Alexis Arquette Passes Away on September 11

Alexis Arquette, a magnificent actress, passed away on September 11, 2016. Alexis was 47 years old (far far too young to pass from this world).

To Xena fans, Alexis was the unforgettable Caligula in Xena Season 6 Episode 12: The God You Know.

Image636094867522470788 US Magazine posted their report about her death on September 11:

Alexis Arquette, a transgender activist and actress best known for playing a Boy George–inspired character in The Wedding Singer, died on Sunday, September 11, her brother Richmond Arquette confirmed. She was 47.

"Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, who became our brother Alexis, passed this morning September 11, at 12:32 am," Richmond, 53, wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday morning. "He was surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, one of his nieces and several other loved ones. We were playing music for him and he passed during David Bowie's Starman. As per his wishes, we cheered at the moment that he transitioned to another dimension."

Alexis, who was born Robert Arquette, was the sibling of actors Richmond, Rosanna, Patricia and David Arquette. Her transition from male to female was documented in the 2007 film Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother.Alexis' cause of death has not been confirmed.

"In the days leading to her death, she told us she was already visiting the other side, and that where she was going, there was only one gender. That on the other side, we are free from all of the things that separate us in this life, and that we are all one. She passed away surrounded by love. We held her and sang her David Bowie's 'Starman' as she punched through the veil to the other side. We washed her body in rose petals and surrounded her with flowers," Rosanna, Richmond, Patricia and David continued.

"Alexis always had to do everything first. She left before we were ready to let her go. We are all heartbroken that she is no longer with us, but we are grateful for the grace and kindness we were all shown during this difficult time. We are comforted by the fact that Alexis came into our family and was our brother and then our sister, and that she gave us so much love. We will love you always, Alexis. We know we were the lucky ones.

A Friend In Need - Xenites Helping One Of Our Own - PLEASE READ

Everyone knows Xenites come together during a time of struggle. We are hosting a fundraiser this week, and the grand prize is a free ticket to the 2017 Xenite Retreat!

It's difficult to find the words to share the news that Xenite and Retreat Team Awesome member Ann Pilichowski is slipping away from us because of a rare and aggressive cancer. For those who know her, and even for those who have only met her once or twice, this is heartbreaking news.

We would like to help raise some money to assist with the medical and funeral costs that Ann's family will need to pay by giving a Xenite Retreat ticket to one lucky person!
If you win, there are three different prizes to choose from below: (pick one)

  1. 1 x fully paid ticket to the Xenite Retreat for you (or a friend, if you already have a ticket).
  2. Pay off the remaining balance of your deposit ticket to the Xenite Retreat.
  3. Donate the free ticket to the Greater Good Scholarship.

  • Visit Ann's YouCaring fundraiser page and make a donation of $10 or more.
  • You will receive one entry into the draw for every $10 you donate.
  • If you donate $100 you will receive 5 FREE additional entries into the draw - that's 15 entries total. (For those of you who have purchased Chakram raffle tickets, this will sound familiar).
  • Make sure you do not donate anonymously or we will not see your entry.
  • You are welcome to leave a message of support for Ann's family to read if you wish.
  • Entries are open from 8:30pm Central on Sunday, September 11th 2016.
  • Entries will close at 1:30pm Central on Sunday, September 18th 2016.

The live drawing will take place over on the Xenite Retreat FB page, via Facebook Live. The winner will also be contacted privately after the drawing to be told that they have won. You do not have to be present at the FB live drawing in order to win. This prize is not redeemable for cash, and does not include any travel expenses to or from the Xenite Retreat. If you are unable to attend the 2017 Xenite Retreat, the ticket can be given to a friend of your choosing or be donated to the Greater Good Scholarship.
