- The SciFi Channel has removed Xena from it's lineup. Starting from next
week that old faithful Star Trek will be back.
The Norse Trilogy won an award from Sci Fi IGN for Best Episode for 2000
"Best Episode: The Ring Arc, Xena: Warrior Princess. For sheer audacity, this
three-part arc (consisting of The Rheingold, The Ring, and Return of the Valkyrie) wins,
hands down. Not only does it incorporate outrageous, epic twists into an already epic
show, but it also throws in wild cards like Beowulf, Grendel, and a subtexty twist on the
Sleeping Beauty legend (guess who gets to awaken snoozing Gabrielle with a smooch? Mmm
hmm). The whole shebang is akin to a bigass Xena movie, and it's a fine,
emotionally-wrenching mark to leave on the show's final season. Here's to hoping that Xena
and Gabs ride off into the sunset in similarly b*tt-kickin' style."

Today is Boxing Day in Australia...
Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated in Britain, Australia, New
Zealand, and Canada. It falls on December 26, which is also St. Stephen's Day. The public
observance of Boxing Day takes place on the following Monday if December 26 falls on a
Saturday or Sunday. The traditional celebration of Boxing Day included giving money and
other gifts to charitable institutions, needy individuals, and people in service jobs. The
holiday may date from the Middle Ages (A.D. 400's--1500's), but the exact origin is
unknown. It may have begun with the lords and ladies of England, who presented Christmas
gifts in boxes to their servants on December 26. Or it may have begun with priests, who
opened the church's alms (charity) boxes on the day after Christmas and distributed the
contents to the poor

TODAY IS AXIP'S 4TH BIRTHDAY!
It's also a good time to find out what
will happen to AXIP once the show ends.
As everyone knows Xena will finish it's Sixth Season in 2001 and thus end a period
where we witnessed the birth of a warrior princess, her soulmate Gabrielle and their
adventures. What does this mean for AXIP? AXIP will change. How? Once XWP stops airring,
AXIP will morph into two sites:
The Lawless Files - to track
the career of Lucy Lawless
and
The ROC File - to track the
career of Renee O'Connor
AXIP will still be active with The Bard's Corner, Artwork and
News but the main focus will be on TLF and TRF.

- Xena's Last Fight - NZ
Herald - 7 December 2000
- Here's an interesting article from The Sydney Morning Herald
about
Why is it that women are always singled out to foster a sense of community? Part of
the article says: There has never been good evidence that the shows that children watch
affect behaviour. Even extremes such as pornography and excessive violence have never
really been proved beyond doubt to affect children's behaviour. So why do we think Ally
and Carrie are more influential as role models (bad) than the strong heroines (good) of
Xena: Warrior Princess, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Or does
Wheeldon's gloomy view of popular culture analyse these shows as merely encouraging
teenagers into witchery and covens?

Kevin Smith is not a body for hire <g>
The following is from Tracey at Kiwi Attic
There is a biscuit manufacture here that makes a brand of
bikkies called "toffee pops". In their TVC currently they star a famous NZ All
Black (thats a rugby player) and he appears as part of a fantasy dream a woman is having,
there is no dialogue just this "hunk" on screen undressing (need I say more
!!!)....... the company decided it was time to change the celeb in the commercial and so
asked the NZ public to vote for the new "Toffee Pop hunk". Well they voted
KEVIN..... and the company approached him and asked him to "name his price" but
he said NO! Robert Bruce ( Kevin's agent ) is quoted as saying " Kevin is a talented
actor singer and comedian -not just a body!!"........ the full story is in today's
