Well that was one hell of a morning! Just as the bidding war over dinner with Lucy and her artwork was last week, so this week we had Argo, Starship Warrior Princess going at a gallop to the finish line. My friend Jo was bidding for another friend of ours and the race was on...Argo was sedate at first and then up she goes $1500 $2000 $2400 and up and up and up and the clock reset 2 minutes with each new bid.   it was mega fun to watch but also stressful for the bidders. When the dust settled there was one winner..no, actually two winners. Jo and Starship. Lucy Lawless' artwork (and that's what Argo is) is a beautiful horse. It truly is and having seen Argo whilst in NZ a few months ago, the pictures of Argo don't do her justice. She is truly a maginificent piece of art. So far Argo has raised: $2400 (initial auction) $5000 (FB Likes for Argo) $3460 (Auction #2 Starship Spring Clean) That is $10,860! What an amazing amount of money for this horse. Congratulations to Starship, Congratulations to my mates (the bidder and the winner) and a very big thank you, once again, goes to Lucy Lawless for doing a SPECTACULAR job. It was fun watching this unfold (not so much fun for the bidders).   Dinner With Lucy Lawless   The bidding war was frenzied as the three bidders went head to head for the prize of dinner with Lucy Lawless. What made it more nerve wracking for the bidders was that the CharityBuzz auction site reset the timer back to 9 minutes remaining on the countdown clock.   Every time bid, it was reset which must have driven the bidders totally crazy. When the dust settled and the winner emerged $12,500 was the winning bid for a dinner with Lucy Lawless. Congratulations to JudeH for winning the dinner! You're My Best Friend, Photographic Prints by Michael Parekowhai   You're My Best Friend, Photographic Prints by Michael Parekowhai which Lucy bought with her first Xena pay packet didn't quite have the last frenetic bidding as the dinner but it jumped from the overnight bid of $10,500 and it jumped to $22,000 where it eventually sold. Congratulations to Nilgiri for winning the artwork! At the end of the day both bidders won but Greenpeace was the biggest winner. Lucy generated $34,500 for the Rainbow Warrior III. Greenpeace sent out a news update yesterday that they were on target to get $90,000 but I suspect that is going to be much higher now. After battling against non-Hodgkin Lymphoma after Spartacus Season 1 and going into remission, Andy had to battle once again when the disease came back and for 18 months he was in a fight for his life. Unfortunately this was one opponent he couldn't win against and yesterday, Andy lost the battle and passed away in Sydney. AUSXIP Andy Whitfield, a site for Andy which was started in 2009 will remain as a tribute to the man and the actor. I met Andy in 2009 during the Starship Supernova event. Lucy was there to sing and Andy and other cast members were there for support. He was such a gentle, humble guy. There was something so serene about him. He wasn't what I was expecting "Spartacus" to be. He brought something quite unique to the role. Thank you Andy. My sincerest condolences go out to his wife, his children, his family, and his friends. I suspect his Spartacus castmates are in shock and are mourning the loss of their dear friend. There will be many who didn't know Andy other than on the screen who will also mourn the passing of this great warrior. Rest in peace Andy. The battle is over.
