It's a mistake the warrior is determined not to repeat again. Xena Copyright: A federal court in New York ruled against a blogger (who was being paid $ for his blog) in his suit seeking a declaratory judgment stating that he could use a photo of Lucy Lawless from "Xena: Warrior Princess" under the fair use doctrine. He was fined for $750 (got off lightly). Universal has for 25 years allowed Xena fans to get away with gross copyright violations - they allowed us to create with complete freedom and the only caveat was we couldn't make a profit/sell our work because it was copyrighted. This is different to what the blogger did but it's basically in the same wheelhouse. Universal came down on a handful of fans who broke the rules but generally Universal allowed us complete freedom. So. If you are going to make money, it's best to license the images from Universal/NBC and be confidant you won't be hauled into a court. You may not get away with just a $750 fine like the blogger did.
