CHEERS AND JEERS:
JEERS to a charnel conclusion. The final episode of Xena: Warrior Princess was unsettling, first of all because it took our favorite tough girl to Japan. That was an odd and disorienting choice, like locating the final episode of Gunsmoke onboard a pirate ship. Far worse than the geographic jump was the show's brutality. Xena died a gruesome death while battling 20,000 samurai. After being impaled by a hail of arrows, she was beheaded and strung up for display. We don't object to Xena going down fighting. But we liked her too much to see her butchered.
