Dragon Teeth

We see the face turned to the world
And hear the questions asked,
But do we see the hungry heart
Beneath the mask?
For every one who gives a hurt, I know
A dozen who would succor souls in need.
For every word that's thrown out like a stone,
There is a kindly word or noble deed.
My own impatience I have tried to curb
Whenever hateful thoughts and words are sown.
Like dragon teeth these terrors cannot grow
Unless we water them with anger of our own.
