On this day of unequal measures, Dark overwhelming light, I pause from celebration For some solstice thoughts tonight. Inside, a log is blazing, And green vines signal life. A bard sings a song of peace on earth, An end to mankind's strife. I think of all the changes The last few years have brought: A friendship long-enduring, The inner battles fought. My heart knows the winter season Better than the spring, But it's learning about the renewal That a gentle soul can bring. Now I'll return to the fireside, Lift my cup to friendship and cheer, And let me heart know gladness On this darkest night of the year. Judy (Wishes)
