The Queen
by Cheryl Roland
It was the chance of a lifetime
A career defining part
One that was slated to go to someone else
But she was not available to start
In walked a raven-haired beauty
With piercing blue eyes
She would soon light up the screen
As much as all the stars in the sky
With her kung fu kicks and flips
And her trademark warrior yell
Lucy changed the face of television
Along with Renee portraying Gabrielle
For six years the world watched
The stories of redemption and love
Getting caught up in the characters
And the bond they created with us
We weren’t prepared for the way
The series was brought to an end
To have our hero go out like that
Made it harder to say goodbye to our dear friend
Thank you for the laughs, action and drama
As well as the adventures we were a part
You captured our imaginations
And will live on forever in our memories and hearts
Their story culminated with the setting sun
And the duo sailed away
But we will never forget the journey
Or the difference they made
The tears flowed freely
As we watched the final scene
She may have been called a princess
But to me she will always be the Queen
