May 21, 2012 - SANCTUARY FOR NONE

The Hollywood Reported confirmed today that Syfy's 'Sanctuary' Will Not Return for Season 5. This, after months of speculation regarding the future of series, and a recent GateWorld interview with Amanda Tapping that just tore at your heart. I've been a fan of Amanda's for over a decade, ever since discovering SG-1 with its move to (then) SciFi. For a while I ran the then largest fan site dedicated to her, spent countless hours enjoying Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Amanda's portrayal of Sam Carter, genious, savior of worlds.

And then came Sanctuary, the magnificient Helen Magnus, and new adventures of an incomparable character. A brilliant premise, a terrific supporting cast, and compelling storylines made Sanctuary a standout not just within genre shows, but all drama series.

This cancellation means the end of an era: the "Queen of SciFi" (or "Grand Empress", as she prefers to be called *G) will no longer grace my screen on a (semi) weekly basis this upcoming season. While we await the return of Amanda to our screens, let's celebrate Sanctuary with some media! :D
