INT. DAY. CONFERENCE ROOM.

DR. LEON KIRKWOOD is seated at the head of the table, looking very pleased with himself as he looks at his colleagues.

KIRKWOOD

As you know our study into past life regression has been going very well and the advancements that we have made have been phenomenal.

Kirkwood activates a video screen with a film playing silently behind him.

KIRKWOOD

We now have the ability to capture images from our test subjects while they are in a hyper regressive state. These images are then recorded and later evaluated by our team to determine if they are possible past lives of our test subjects or merely dreams captured during the testing.

DR. CHRIS MORGAN raises his hand Kirkwood nods to the young man.

MORGAN

What has been your success rate with making that determination Doctor?

KIRKWOOD

Actually it's been quite good. We've discovered that the difference between past live remembrances and dreams seem to lie in the vividness of the recorded material. Past lives are far more vivid than dreams and the test subjects...

Before Kirkwood can continue, the door to the room burst open. Research Assistant PETER DUNCAN enters the room. He is obviously very excited about something.

DUNCAN

Dr. Kirkwood I am sorry to interrupt, but you really need to come to the lab we have a very interesting situation coming light.

Kirkwood needs to hear nothing else. He grabs his files and follows his assistant out the door, leaving his colleagues staring at each other and offering doubtful looks to each to each other.

INT. - DAY. HALLWAY.

Kirkwood and Duncan are almost at a run, moving toward the labs.

KIRKWOOD

What in the hell is going on Pete?

DUNCAN

You remember the English student who joined the study a few weeks ago? The one who was having all the wild regressions about ancient Greece?

KIRKWOOD

Yeah, ah, Sarah Kendall. She's got some very vivid memories tucked away in there. She's in the sensory depravation tank isn't she?

Suddenly Kirkwood looks panicked.

KIRKWOOD

Oh God! Don't tell me she's having problems.

DUNCAN

No! She's having another great session as usual. Today we're finding out about the birth of Xena's baby.

KIRKWOOD

So where is the problem?

DUNCAN

There's no problem. There's a situation. Do you remember Dr. Adler from the history department?

KIRKWOOD

Yeah. I've been trying to get her to come in for months. I'm betting she got all kinds of weird things locked away behind those blue eyes.

Duncan laughs, pulling open the doors to the lab.

DUNCAN

You have no idea! She came in today and we started her out in the chair like we do everyone else.

KIRKWOOD

(confused)

Okay. So the situation is with Dr. Adler. What does Sarah have to do with it?

DUNCAN

Let's just get to the viewing room and I'll show you.

INT. - DAY. VIEWING ROOM.

The viewing room is full of people viewing two tapes at the same time, they are murmuring, nodding and pointing at the tapes. Kirkwood and Duncan push to the front of the group. Kirkwood's jaw drops when he realizes what he's looking at.

DUNCAN

(smiling)

The tape on the left belongs to Sarah Kendall and was one of the first ones that she did for us. The tape on the right belongs to Dr. Adler and was made this morning.

KIRKWOOD

How can they possibly be having the same regression?

DUNCAN

They're not. Dr. Adler is having Xena's regression.

KIRKWOOD

(disbelieving)

This isn't possible.

DUNCAN

Certainly seems to be. Sarah's regressions have established the fact that Gabrielle believed that she and Xena were soul mates. Looks like they have found each other again.

KIRKWOOD

No. No. This just isn't possible. There has to be a logical explanation. Sarah took one of Adler's classes?

DUNCAN

Nope. I already checked Sarah's transcripts. As best we can tell, Sarah Kendall and Dr. Adler have never met.

KIRKWOOD

How long has Sarah been in the SD tank?

DUNCAN

Three hours.

KIRKWOOD

Get her out. I want her to see this.

Duncan motions to another RA who exits the room. Kirkwood and the rest of the group continue to watch the two tapes. Within a few moments SARAH KENDALL is brought into the room. She's wearing a bathrobe and towel drying her hair.

SARAH

What's up, Doc?

(snickering)

I've always wanted to say that.

KIRKWOOD

Sarah, have you ever met Dr. Adler from the history department?

SARAH

No.

KIRKWOOD

Never taken a class or had any contact with her that you are aware of?

SARAH

Nothing I remember. Can't say I haven't bumped into her in the hall or something, but I know I've never taken a class.

DUNCAN

(laughing under his breath)

You would have remembered if you had bumped into her in the hall.

SARAH

(looking between Kirkwood and Duncan)

What's going on?

DUNCAN

Look at the recordings we've got going up there, Sarah. Which one is yours?

She watches the screen for a few moments then shrugs.

SARAH

They both look like mine. From different perspectives.

KIRKWOOD

Yes, but one of them isn't yours. One of them belongs to Dr. Adler.

SARAH

(shocked)

That, that can't be. How can we both be having the same memories?

KIRKWOOD

You're not. Dr. Adler is having Xena's memories.

SARAH

I want to see her.

Duncan and Kirkwood look at each other. Duncan questions silently about taking Sarah to see Adler. Kirkwood finally nods.

INT. DAY. OBSERVATION ROOM.

Sarah and Duncan enter the room, closing the door behind them.

DUNCAN

Now remember Sarah, she can't see or hear you. You can't have any interaction with her. The only reason we showed you the tapes was to confirm our suspicions.

Duncan turns up the lights to illuminate a two-way mirror. On the other side, in a regression chair, seemingly in a nice deep trance is a tall dark haired woman. Sarah reaches out and touches the glass immediately

SARAH

(quietly, disbelieving)

Xena.

EXT. DAY. CAMPUS.

Sarah is watching the building that houses the history department. As she leans against a tree is quite apparent that she's looking for someone. Her leg twitches and she fidgets nervously while waiting.

SARAH

Come on, come on. You gotta come out sometime.

DR. KATHRYNE ADLER exits the building carrying a long black case and shouldering a soft side briefcase. She takes a moment to retrieve her sunglasses and slips them into place. Just as she is about to walk away she stops, as if seeming to sense something unusual. She glances Sarah's direction and even through the sunglasses it's apparent that they make eye contact.

KATHRYNE

(whispering)

Gabrielle?

Before Dr. Adler can begin to walk over to the blonde, a student stops her. She wants to go talk to the blonde, but the student is in her way. She deals with him quickly then looks back toward the tree. The girl is gone.

INT. DAY. DORM.

Sarah enters quickly and slams the door behind her. She breathing heavy and a bead of sweat is very apparent on her face. She's obviously been running from her spot by the tree.

SARAH

(pacing)

It can't be! It just can't be!

She stops pacing and takes a deep calming breath.

SARAH

Think, Sarah, think. There has to be a logical explanation. You don't really believe that this is a soulmate from two thousand years ago. You don't really believe that this is Xena.

She stops in front of a mirror, talking to her reflection.

SARAH

It's not. It's just not. It can't be. The entire concept is in-sane.

INT. EVE. APARTMENT. LIVING ROOM.

Kathryne/Xena is pacing back and forth. There is another person on the couch. She stops and looks down at APHRODITE.

KATHRYNE/XENA

You told me she would remember me.

APHRODITE

Chill. She does, she's just a little freaked out.

KATHRYNE/XENA

Well go unfreak her.

APHRODITE

Xena you know I can't do that. I just don't have the power anymore. I'm immortal, not a Goddess. Sarah's memories of Gabrielle will have to be enough to bring her to you.

Kathryne/Xena is about to go into a number one warrior conniption fit.

KATHRYNE/XENA

Son of a bit-!

APHRODITE

That won't help Xena.

KATHRYNE/XENA

No, but I'll feel a hell of a lot better!

APHRODITE

We've had this problem before. She's always come to her senses.

KATHRYNE/XENA

She's never run away from me once we've made eye contact.

APHRODITE

Hey, one time in two thousand years? I'd say our batting average here has been pretty good.

KATHRYNE/XENA

I prefer to bat a thousand, thanks.

Kathryne/Xena throws herself down in a chair across from the couch, closing her eyes and rubbing her temples.

KATHRYNE/XENA

Okay, now what?

APHRODITE

Now what? What? You try again. You're a professor. Now that we know for sure she's here go check her records and get her class schedule.

KATHRYNE/XENA

(peering at Aphrodite with one open eye)

Oooo, that seems almost too easy.

APHRODITE

(smiling)

Yeah it does, doesn't it. Xena I kept up my part of the deal, just like always, I've followed you two through another lifetime and made sure you ended up together. Or at least in the same general area. The rest is up to you.

KATHRYNE/XENA

What I wouldn't give for you to have a little godly power though.

APHRODITE

(shrugs)

It sucks, but the fact is, when people stop believing in you, your powers just continue to decrease until your merely immortal.

Kathryne/Xena looks over to the fallen Goddess.

KATHRYNE/XENA

Aphrodite?

APHRODITE

Yeah?

KATHRYNE/XENA

If it helps at all, I still believe in you and I'm sure Gabrielle does too. You two were always good friends.

APHRODITE

(smiling again, nodding)

We were, weren't we?

KATHRYNE/XENA

Un-huh and if I have anything to say about it you will be again.

INT. DAY. CONFERENCE ROOM.

Kathryne is pacing slowly back and forth. Kirkwood is seated at the table.

KATHRYNE

How do you explain it?

KIRKWOOD

I can't. No one on the team can.

KATHRYNE

You've never had anything like this happen before?

KIRKWOOD

Never. We are as shocked as you are.

KATHRYNE

I want to meet her. Can you arrange that?

KIRKWOOD

I can try. I can't force her, but I can ask her if she wants to meet you.

KATHRYNE

Thanks Leon. I really appreciate it.

She reaches to the floor and rings up a long black case, placing it on the table. She takes a deep breath and then opens the case. She stares at the contents for a long moment before turning it so Kirkwood can see the contents.

KATHRYNE

Show her these. If she won't agree to meet me after that, don't push her.

Kathryne watches as Kirkwood's eyes track the items in the case. A warrior's sword, chakram and a pair of sais that once upon a time belonged to a warrior bard. Kirkwood looks up from the case and nods.

KIRKWOOD

These have been in the recordings. Are these the original items?

KATHRYNE

The chakram is the second one. My first one was broken in battle.

KIRKWOOD

I know. It was broken when Callisto threw it at you, hitting you in the back.

KATHRYNE

(nodding)

I forgot, you know, don't you?

KIRKWOOD

I do. Do you remember everything?

KATHRYNE

Everything. I've been looking for Gabrielle so we could be together again. I couldn't believe it when you told me about this research and then to find her here, but unfortunately we haven't gotten back together yet.

KIRKWOOD

Why not?

KATHRYNE

It has to be free will. I can't and won't force her, but I just need the chance to see her.

KIRKWOOD

I'll see what I can do.

INT. DAY. OFFICE.

Kathryne is sitting in her office grading papers, when there is a knock on the door.

KATHRYNE

Come!

The door opens, Sarah steps in, carrying the long black case. Kathryne looks up, a slight smile breaks across her face. Sarah gently closes the door then turns around to face Kathryne. Sarah is obviously nervous.

SARAH

Umm, thought you might want these back.

KATHRYNE

(nodding)

Thanks. I've managed to hang onto them a long time. I'd hate to lose them now.

Sarah watches Kathryne, realizing there are a multitude of hidden meaning behind those last spoken words.

SARAH

Yeah, they must be very important to you.

She offers the case to Kathryne. Kathryne stands, taking it and placing it on her desk. She watches Sarah with almost a shy, nervous reserve.

KATHRYNE

They are, but there's still one thing missing. One very important thing.

SARAH

What's that?

KATHRYNE

The other half of my soul.

Sarah laughs a bit, her eyes dropping to the floor. Then slowly she raises her head to their eyes really meet.

SARAH

I think I might have that.

KATHRYNE

(nodding)

I'm sure of it.

Katherine holds her hand out to Sarah. Very slowly Sarah accepts it. They stand there, holding hands but yet still the distance of their arms apart. Sarah finally smiles at Kathryne.

SARAH

This is very right isn't it?

KATHRYNE

It always has been. Lifetime after lifetime, this is the one thing we've always been sure of.

SARAH

How did you find me?

KATHRYNE

Aphrodite.

SARAH

(laughing softly)

Is she still around?

KATHRYNE

She's immortal. She keeps an eye on us, and when one lifetime ends she begins looking for us again and brings us back together in the next.

SARAH

Still doing the Goddess of Love thing, huh?

KATHRYNE

(smiling, moving closer)

Absolutely.

Slowly the space between them closes by mutual consent. The eons seems to melt away, Xena leans in giving Gabrielle a kiss on the forehead.

XENA

Welcome home Gabrielle.

Gabrielle slowly lifts her face to look at her soul mate.

GABRIELLE

It's good to be home Xena.

They watch each other as each of them bring a hand up to caress the cheek of the other. Then slowly they come together for one tender, sweet kiss. When they part Gabrielle has a slight blush on her face.

GABRIELLE

We should go somewhere and talk.

XENA

Definitely. Can I buy you a cup of coffee?

GABRIELLE

(smiling, nodding being playful)

You can buy me dinner.

XENA

Deal. Would you like to see Dite again? I can give her a call.

GABRIELLE

I'd love to.

Xena breaks from Gabrielle and turns to make the call.

EXT. EVE. CAMPUS.

Xena and Gabrielle exit the building. As they do, Aphrodite 'materializes' before them much to Xena's shock.

XENA

I thought you said you lost your powers.

APHRODITE

I said when people stop believing in me, my powers fade.

(smiles at them, wiggling a finger back and forth between them)

You two still believe in me. You two are enough to keep anyone going.

Xena and Gabrielle smile at each other, giving sheepish little grins between them.

XENA

Yeah well...

Aphrodite loops her arm through Gabrielle's left arm then give her a little 'nudge' toward Xena. Gabrielle takes Xena through the left arm so the three are effectively looped together. Then Aphrodite snaps her fingers putting them all in white outfits that resemble each other and dark sunglasses. She lowers her own glasses to the end of her nose, peering over at Xena.

APHRODITE

So, babe where we going for dinner?

XENA

I dunno. Why don't we let Gabrielle choose?

APHRODITE

Okay. Come on bardiepoo make it good. Old tall, dark and sexy there is picking up the tab.

GABRIELLE

I don't know. Do you have any suggestions?

They begin walking toward the parking lot. The setting sun outlines the trio.

APHRODITE

Yeah, actually there's this little place in Athens that serves really good Gyros.

GABRIELLE

Athens? As in Greece?

APHRODITE

That's the place.

XENA

How about Italian? I hear Rome is nice this time of year.

Fade Out
