Karl Urban Joins RED Movie Cast

ImageTREK Doc cast in RED

Comics2Film at Mania can exclusively report that actor Karl Urban has joined the swelling ranks of the film. Already cast are Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, John C. Reilly, Helen Mirren, Julian McMahon, Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine and Richard Dreyfuss.

Urban was seen recently playing Doctor "Bones" McCoy in 'Star Trek'. He also recently completed a turn in the manhwa-to-film adaptation of TOKYOPOP's 'Priest'.

The film, based on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner's comic, focuses on a retired CIA agent targeted for death by a mysterious assassin. The film expands greatly on the comic series (which Ellis says should be thought of as a "short story").

Our source tells us Urban is playing the role of "Cooper" but offered few details about the part. We've also that McMahon ('Fantastic Four', 'Nip/Tuck') is playing none other than the Vice President of the United States. Finally, our source confirmed that Borgnine and Dreyfuss have signed their deals for the film.

'Red' rolls cameras this January in Toronto.

Valentine's Day Movie Trailer - Katherine Fugate's New Movie

This is the trailer for Katherine's new movie which is just fabulous! I love movies like this. It was written by one of my favourite writers, Katherine Fugate, AND it has a STELLAR cast:

Ashton Kutcher, Kathy Bates, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba Jessice Biel, Bradley Cooper, Shirley MacLaine, Patrick Dempsey, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Taylors Swift and Lautner, George Lopez, Eric Dane, Hector Elizondo, Jennifer Garner, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts

From director Garry Marshall ('Pretty Woman') comes 'Valentine's Day', a sweeping, meet-by-chance, ensemble comedy in the mode of 1999's New Year's Eve star-cluster '200 Cigarettes' and 2003's Christmas Eve, Brit-fest 'Love Actually'.

Update on Xena Convention in Europe - Vote

For French and European fans there may be a chance you can get Lucy or Renee to a convention there again. Here's the update from Xenan on how the plans are progressing for a Xena Convention:

Ultimart Creation has just created on its forum, the thread where you can vote for the actors you want to see at the "Convention The Musical".

And guess what? Ultimart chose Lucy Lawless and Reneé O'Connor, the 2 co-stars of the show! You can be proud, because hopefully, one of the 2 actresses will participate in the Convention as there will be, at least, one guest per show. And, if we are very lucky, we could have the 2 actresses!

You have to go right now on the Ultimart's forum and vote for the actors you would like to see at the Convention. Go there: http://ultimart.max2forum.com/convention-the-musical-f32/invites-de-convention-the-musical-t852.htm

Vote in crowd for Lucy Lawless and Reneé O'Connor. It's a multiple-choice poll so vote for the 2 actresses. You can vote without being registred on the forum.

A detailed help, to post on the Ultimart Creation's forum, was posted on Talking Xena (link: http://talkingxena.yuku.com/reply/317291/t/Xena-Convention-in-Europe-.html#reply-317291). Go quickly to discover it, register yourself on the forum of Ultimart and post lot of messages.

WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Love always and everywhere,

Copenhagen's last-ditch summit to stop catastrophic global warming is failing; only massive public pressure can save it. Sign the giant petition - it may be the largest in history.

Vote in crowd and XWP will be at the top of the poll so that, it will show Ultimart Creation that Xena is arousing full of enthusiam. We need the help of everybody, go go go!!

And don't forget to post lots of messages on Xena on their forum, whether it's on the show or on the actors or on the convention... It doesn't matter as long as you talk about Xena. It will show them that we are extremly motivated.

But this is not a reason for you to stop sending e-mail to Ultimart Creation! Keep doing that, the more we will be numerous and continually asking for a Xena Convention, the more it will encourage Ultimart Creation to organize an amazing event. We have to fight over and over again to make ourself heard. That's why you have to keep sending e-mail to Ultimart Creation here: ultimart.creation@gmail.com

You have dreamed of seeing Lucy Lawless, Reneé O'connor, Hudson Leick or Ted Raimi in Europe? Your dream is going to come true! First Annual Xenite Softball Game!!!

The following is from Penny and the gang over at the Canberra Xena Gang:

ImageThe First Annual Xenite Softball Game!!! You can check out all the info here http://www.kickass.at/xenasoftball

We are selling shirts and caps for team uniforms/audience support - ALL profits go to charity. The charity? Well that depends on who wins the match! If Amphipolis wins, the money will go to the Starship foundation. If Potidaea wins, the money will go to the Renee O'Connor outreach fund.

We are going to have a bucket going around the audience on the day as well for additional donations, and we are hoping to raise some big bucks for charity, AND have a hell of a good time playing some ball while we're at it! Anyway, all the information is on the website, so check it out! :)

Xena Props At Shelly Bay New Zealand

Tours an attractive paying proposition
The Dominion Post Last updated 22:18 13/12/2009

ImageA touch of Wellywood awaits visitors at a new attraction where you can pose with props used in famous TV shows and movies such as The Tribe and The Piano.

Westside Studios co-owner Robert Baldock has put hundreds of show props on display at his Shelly Bay premises.

<Snipped>

Props from other TV shows are also on display and able to be handled, including items from Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules.

They come from more than 10,000 props collected by Mr Baldock over the past 20 years. He said they had a replacement value of "many millions of dollars".

Westside Studios which supplies props and equipment for the film industry, theatres and floats for the annual Christmas parade is open between 10am and 4pm from Tuesday to Saturday. The entry fee for adults is $14 and it is half price for children.

Top Five Female TV Characters

Image
There's been some godawful depictions of women on television. Luckily there's been some awesome characters that help make up for it. This list is restricted to series I've seen; I've also ruled out BBC adaptations of classic novels - otherwise it would be nothing but Elizabeth Bennett from Pride & Prejudice or Margaret Hale from North & South.

The Top Five Well-Rounded, Fleshed-Out, Properly Three-Dimensional Female Characters in Popular Television.

#4 Xena Warrior Princess

It's the shameless pick for superhero character of choice. Xena: Warrior Princess is often ridiculed for its Sapphic overtones and high camp episodes - but regular viewers know the series had bold, often epic story arcs, played out by a ballsy yet charming cast. At its centre is Lucy Lawless, undeniably brilliant as the repentant warlord on a quest to undo the wrongs of her past. Not needing Hercules' immortal parentage, or Buffy's "supernatural" powers, Xena is all-woman killing machine, highly-trained, intense, focused, deadly and above all, wise. She struggles with being "good", and the glint of joy in Lawless' eyes during fight scenes shows how much she loves to be bad. Xena's reliance on a tight group of close friends demonstrates the importance social interaction plays in helping people make good choices.

Also, she kicks a lot of ass. And I wish I could kick a lot of ass. And I imagine there'd be a fair few females who would prefer to be avenging self-reliant warriors much more than "Save me!" Disney princesses.

How XENA’s India Storyline Changed My Life

How XENA’s India Storyline Changed My Life

Posted The Torch Online on 10 December 2009 by Tim O'Leary, Associate Editor

Throughout its six seasons, Xena: Warrior Princess featured an enormous array of world mythologies, but my absolute favorite was the four-episode arc dealing with Gabrielle’s spiritual quest in India, which is why that particular storyline earns the most esteemed award we here at TheTorchOnline can bestow:
