Lucy was on the Holmes Show in NZ yesterday discussing the change in the name for The Starship Hospital. It was originally going to be renamed Auckland City Hospital
Children's Services. The board did a backflip after a huge backlash from people including Lucy. They are now putting back the name Starship into the name of the hospital but now calling it The Starship
Children's Department (!!!).

It was with great sadness yesterday that the news that Meleager/Robb, a well known and well respected fan and good friend to many in this fandom passed away from a heart attack on
the 21st April. My thoughts and prayers go out to his partner, Sue, and to all his friends who will mourn his passing.

Don't Sing Me Blue is an independent production made in rural New South Wales (in Australia) which contains a mix of blues, folk, soft rock and hints at jazz.

For all those people who liked WebBlogs (and for those that don't know what they are here is the introduction to it: Blogger offers you instant communication power by
letting you post your thoughts to the web whenever the urge strikes).
What does this have to with Xena? Well a few Xenites have decided to create a Xena Blogger.
They're doing the entire X:WP experience from ep one all the way through to the end. Xena has a webblog, and
Gabrielle has one. At the end of each entry, there's a place where secondary characters (who are part of the blog team) can enter their comments. So far they are up to Hooves & Harlots and you can access the previous
episodes.

This issue of MAIN Magazine originally came out in April 1996 and features flip-covers of
Xena (on side A) and Magneto (on side B).
This was the first appearance of Xena in the hobby and pre-dates the Topps comic, the
action figures, and the various card sets. In fact, it was because of this issue that
Xena's license reached the hobby world.
A 2-page spread of Xena with facts about the show and actress highlight the issue, along
with features on: Rich Buckler (silver age Marvel star artist), Antarctic Press and their
Warrior Nun, a sexy CyberForce centerfold, Batman's 35th anniversary, and Marvel/DC's
Amalgam line.
This issue comes factory sealed from 1996 with original promotional trading cards. Every
issue came with a promo card from the Highlander game as well as random cards from the
X-Men set, the Marvel set from Fleer, and others.
This issue is very RARE and was much sought after by Xena and Highlander collectors. This
issue outsold Wizard for that month.
The writer/inker of this issue, Mr. Rusty Gilligan, has graciously offered both signed and
unsigned copies of this issue for sale! He is a pro inker whose credits include work at
Marvel, DC and the original Heavy Metal movie (1981).
Unsigned copies are $4 and signed by Rusty is $6 (a fantastic price!). Shipping
for up to 3 mags in the US, Mexico and Canada is $2; International orders shipping is $4

It seems Lucy has been sightseeing in Singapore according
to yesterday's Singapore newspaper. Singapore is currently battling (with the rest of the
world)
the outbreak of the severe acute respiratory syndrome
(SARS). The transcript is from Karen on the merwolfpack list:

"Xena braved SARS: Singapore may now be SARS city, but it did not stop New Zealand
actress Lucy Lawless from seeing the sights here last weekend. The Xena star was here with
daughter Daisy Bit on Friday and Saturday en route to her hometown in Auckland. The
Warrior Princess may be dead, but Lawless will return to TV to present a five-part
documentary on Discovery Channel called Warrior Women."

A few years ago Lucy leant her voice to the Simpsons show
in the episode "Tree House of Horror". Word is out now that there will be a
Xena/Lucy action figure in the Simpson range. I received this note about the action
figure:
Playmates is a company who produce the
"Simpsons" collectible figurines. When Lucy Lawess first appeared on the
Simpsons in a Halloween episode many fans including myself requested that Playmates make
an action figure of Lucy Lawless as the cartoon Xena. And playmates have agreed! To be
released in August/September 2003 is "The Collector's Lair" a rather big playset
based on the scene from the episode where Bart and Lisa attempt to rescue Lucy Lawless
from "The Collector". It will include figures of The Comic Book Guy as "The
Collector", Lisa Simpson as "Clobber Girl", Bary Simpson as "Stretch
Dude" and of course Lucy Lawless as herself in her Xena outfit. Playmates also
usually make these things with voice interaction, so the Lucy Lawless figure may also
feature recordings of some of her lines from this episode. It is apparently some sort
of exclusive playset that will only be released to certain retailers, which may
mean it will be hard to get (especially in Australia) and will probably be pretty
costly. At the moment there is only concept art available at some of the Simpson action
figure sites.

Crispian from Kiwi Attic reports that the NZ Woman's Day
has pics of Lucy from the NZ Pre-Oscar bash in the latest edition of the Magazine.
The April 7, 2003 issue of the Womans Day Magazine includes
3 images of Lucy Lawless looking abit cheeky and playful during a pre-Oscar party in LA.
Lucy and Dave Dobbyn entertained the guests at the Kiwi flavoured bash! She is wearing and
black and white striped top with a black skirt, and a short white skirt in one of the
images. The actual size of the pictures are 12.5cm x 7cm.
