Dear Friends,
Strikes are hard. We’re all feeling it. Keeping the positive energy up day after day, walking back and forth on concrete in the sun, hoping for a friendly HONK from a stranger in a Tesla. Not only do theme pickets keep up morale and make us feel less alone – they reinforce solidarity, camaraderie and allow old friends to catch up in person.
The first TV show I ever wrote for was XENA:WARRIOR PRINCESS. When the picket lines started dwindling at Universal/Lankershim, my regular gate, I texted my dear friend, Renee O’Connor, who played “Gabrielle,” and asked her if I organized a Xena Themed Picket at Universal, would she come? She said yes! That ask grew to more writers, friends and the Universal Captains, and now we’re on the SPECIAL PICKET SCHEDULE for next Wednesday, June 28th from 10am to 2pm.
Rob Tapert (EP) & Lucy Lawless (Xena) and I are sponsoring lunch from TACOS 1986, who offered to cut their $2500 catering bill by 50% in their support of the WGA. Who knew food trucks were so expensive?! I have so much more gratitude for all you who have provided them and I’ve seen a lot of your names on those trucks!
