Another favorite encounter at the TNT party involved Gray and "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
While I chatted with Gray, Harmon marched right up, hugged her and declared: "There she is - the most beautiful woman on the planet!"
Gray, indeed luminous and lovely as ever at 72, reacted with gracious modesty. She then complimented Harmon, who was looking especially saucy herself in a black leather mini that showed off her long legs.
Later, I asked Harmon about her greeting to Gray. She remembered being uncharacteristically "star-struck" when she first met the "Dallas" actress.
"I'm from Dallas," Harmon said, "and she was one of my idols."
She said she grew up watching the Texas soap and always admired Sue Ellen.
"She was the woman who wouldn't take it," she said. "Sue Ellen had her devious side and she would jut her chin out. I remember she always had a highball in her hand and the sound of the ice clinking when she was really upset."
