1. Which charity will benefit from this year's Charity Auction?

Starship Foundation / Starship Children's Health

The Starship Foundation has been chosen to receive all monies raised for Annual AUSXIP Charity Auction. Starship was chosen in 2006 when the first AUSXIP Charity Auction was held because Lucy Lawless is on the board of the Foundation and also a passionate advocate for the organisation for many years. The Starship Foundation is also AUSXIP Chosen charity and the reason AUSXIP Charity Auction was created for; to raise money for the foundation to help children.

Starship Hospital provides leading health care to nearly 150,000 children each year from around New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

But in addition to government funding they need your help to raise more than $5 million annually to keep the hospital at the forefront of paediatric care.

As a charitable organisation, Starship Foundation exists through the generosity of those who lovingly donate money and/or time to assist in making Starship a world-class medical facility.

For more information about Starship and the work they do, please visit their site.

100% of the money raised in this auction will go to Starship.

2.  Why isn't the Auction Also Raising Money For Renee's Charity?

Due to the significant problems we encountered with Paypal and then check donations for Renee's charity monies in the 2010 and 2011 AUSXIP Charity Auctions, we attempted to find a better solution. We approached two charities that were close to Renee's heart and tried to get an arrangement in place where the money would be paid directly to the charity, as we do with the Starship Foundation. Unfortunately after months of work, we couldn't get that arrangement in place.

The original idea for the auction was to remove us from the money side and just concentrate on the organisation and follow through in shipping. We didn't want to deal with the money side but wanting the charity involved to receive 100% of the money. Paypal doesn't offer this for us.

It was a difficult decision to make but we wanted to streamline the process as much as possible. Please be assured that Renee O'Connor items will always feature in the AUSXIP Charity Auctions.

3. Where did the Items come from and can I donate?

Many items have been signed and/or donated by: Lucy Lawless, Crystal Chappell (Venice), Viva Bianca, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Erin Cummings, Campbell Cooley and many others have donated, autographed and contributed items for the Charity Auction.

Every year we get items sent to us by fans who want to contribute their collectables to the auction or contribute other items such as books or artwork

For this auction, Lucy Lawless took time out of her very busy schedule in 2012 to sign a great many items and donated some very special items as well.

They are 100% authentically signed by the actor. We can issue COA's if required.

If you wish to donate items: Because we are at a late stage of organising the auction items in regards to shipping and posting items to the AUSXIP central location in the US, please keep your item rather than ship it off to AUSXIP, send a detailed email with the following information:

  • Item

  • Item's Condition

  • Price we should place as a starting bid

  • Are you willing to ship for free to the winner bidder?

  • Please photograph the item and send to http://ausxip.com/contact.html  and address is to MaryD

8. The site says "Currency is in ($) unless otherwise noted. Is this always in *US* dollars? Or is it in the $ currency of the country of the seller?

To keep it uniform, it is in US Dollars. Please use the Currency Converter to convert from other currencies when paying for the items. Please refer to the "How To Pay For Items" for more information on Starship Foundation donations in particular, as those will need to be converted to NZ dollars.

9. Once the sale is over, how do I pay for my items?

Starship Foundation

The successful bidder will pay their money DIRECTLY to the Starship Foundation on their donation page. We have been working with Starship since 2006 to make this process as easy as possible. NO MONEY is exchanged between AUSXIP and the buyer. You pay Starship DIRECTLY.

Arrangements have been made with Starship to work in conjunction with AUSXIP during this process and in every auction since 2006 this arrangement has worked out to the buyer and to Starship's benefit.

Please DO NOT pay by cheque / check but use the Online Donation Form with a valid Credit Card in NZ Dollars (converted from the US amount - this is important as your item will not be sent if the correct amount is not entered)

1. Go to the Starship Donation Page (see the example below)

2. Select Amount of Online Donation
Select the amount of your winning bid - use Other and fill in the amount. Please be aware that Starship is in New Zealand and your winning bid will be converted to NZ dollars. All the auction items are in US dollars. You will need to convert the US to NZ and pay the NZ dollar amount. Please use the Currency Converter or contact MaryD on feedback @ ausxip.com  if you are having a problem. You will be asked to meet the shortfall if you enter in the wrong amount.
