The Top 20 TV Spin Off Shows of All-Time - Xena!

Sometimes a character on a TV show becomes so popular that viewers want to see more and more of them, so much so that the original TV show is no longer capable of meeting their needs. Other times a TV show plants the seeds of a narrative that is too promising to be neglected but too big to be crammed into its initial confines, meaning that it needs its own TV show to flourish. Whatever the exact cause, there have been numerous spin-offs on the TV screen, including a fair number that were outstanding on their own merits.

Here are 20 of the top TV spin-offs of all time:

ImageNumber 8: Xena: Warrior Princess

Xena started out as a recurring character who was scheduled to die after three episodes on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. However, she became so popular that she received her own TV show, Xena: Warrior Princess, which became so popular that it soon surpassed its source. As a result, there is still a cult following for the TV show as well as hundreds and hundreds of tie-in products, which speak volumes about its continuing influence.

The Steven L. Sears Radio Show

ImageSteven has his own radio show! Mega cool news. What's the show about?
The following is from Steve's official site

Who? Well, some of you know me. For those who don't, I'm a TV/Film writer and producer, author, graphic novelist, and sometimes actor (rarely) with a career that spans over thirty years. I've worked on many TV series from THE A-TEAM to XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS and I'm the author of the NON-USER-FRIENDLY GUIDE FOR ASPIRING TV WRITERS. For a quick primer, here is my IMDB page and an oh-so-immodest video resume' here.

One of my new endeavors is a continuing radio series on Brigade Radio One.

I'll be chatting with people inside and outside the industry, there will be remote episodes at events I'm appearing at, lots of appearances with cronies of mine, and several episodes dealing specifically with how to work and survive in the Film and Television industry.

BRIGADE RADIO ONE is a new network with a large and impressive number of radio shows produced by people who come from all areas of entertainment and interest. From Adrian Paul, Sheila E, Michael Lange, Betty Thomas, Courtney Gaines, Coolio, Don Most and many many others!

CURRENT SHOWS

EPISODE ONE
Where Steven stumbles his way through his first episode, getting used to the equipment and opining on his past. SPECIAL GUEST - Jessica Brawner, author of "Charisma +1, the Guide to Convention Etiquette"

EPISODE TWO
Where Steven introduces Babs Greyhosky, an extraordinary person. Aside from writing on such shows as MAGNUM PI, GREATEST AMERICAN HERO, THE A-TEAM and so many others, she was the Executive Producer of RIPTIDE, the first series I ever worked on and my big break. Babs was also responsible for me working on XENA. We discuss the past, the shows we've worked on together, our strong continuing friendship, and her recent endeavors as a psychologist working with Veterans.

EPISODE THREE
Where Steven does a couple of remote episodes from Comic Cons.
Joining me at Comic Con Palm Springs the weekend of August 24-27, 2017, is Jon Schnepp, an independent filmmaker, director of METALOCALYPSE, producer/director/writer of the documentary THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN LIVES: WHAT HAPPENED? At Long Beach Comic Con the weekend of September 2-3, 2017, I was joined by Neo Edmund, author/screenwriter/comic book writer and the host of his own show on Brigade Radio One, Neo's Con Quest.

Looking for Australian and NZ Xena Fans For Australian Magazine Feature On How Xena Changed Your Life

xena-reunion-photo

If you are Aussie and or a Kiwi Xenite, this notice is for you.

I've been contacted by the Features Writer of That's Life magazine here in Australia. They would like to feature a Xena superfan (which is pretty much every fan) and in particular women who have been really touched by Xena in some way (I didn't write that, Beth, the features writer wrote that). They are looking for fans who have been inspired by the show and how that has changed their lives ie (having a Xena themed wedding, changing some major in your life etc).

It would involve a phone interview and sending some pics. The article is not a gotcha interview (if you are worried about this). You will have a chance to preview the article in full before it goes to print.
So, if you are interested, get in touch with me and I'll give Beth your details.

Requirements:

- You must be an Australian or New Zealand Xena fan.
- Xena must have touched your life and you have made changes because of her
- You're willing to tell your story

Okay? Awesome. If you are that fan, contact me on http://ausxip.com/contact.html

Xena Uber Fiction Flashback: Lucifer Rising by S. Bowers

ImageLucifer Rising by S. Bowers
Uber Alt

This story was my first foray into reading Uber fan fiction - A friend recommended I read Lucifer Rising and what a revelation it turned out to be. This story is packed with adventure, intrigue, love that knows no bounds and a good dose of mystery thrown in. This is the story of Jude Lucien, an ex DEA agent and Liz Gardener a nosey reporter. This is a fantastically richly woven story that you will not be able to turn away from this xenaverse Uber classic.

Lucy Lawless 20 Years Later Still Kicking Ass and the Ash Vs Evil Dead Lucy Image Galleries!

Before we get to the Kicking Ass image, I have to tell you about the AUSXIP server issues I'm having. It seem certain portions of the site/s haven't migrated properly (grrr) and I'm only finding them because I'm about to update them and they are not there (eg image galleries). This happened with the Ash vs Evil Dead gallery on the Lucy site today. PLEASE if you get an error message when you go to any section of AUSXIP, please contact me - AUSXIP is a monster site and sometimes I won't get around to finding the problem for quite some time. So if you find a problem, please report it to me.

So. I have the technology, I have rebuilt it (sorry couldn't resist...I am a bionic geek at heart and it was my first love/crush/sigh). Anyhoo...lookee the image galleries are working again!

Press Release: Dynamite Entertainment Relaunching Xena: Warrior Princess Comic Book Series

Xena is back...at least in comics rather than live action. Check out the press release below!

ImageDynamite Entertainment, a leading publisher of English language comic books and graphic novels, is proud to announce the extension of their publishing deal with NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products for comic books and graphic novels based on the Xena: Warrior Princess television series. The first new series is set to launch in February 2018 with Xena #1 from writer Meredith Finch (Wonder Woman, Justice League Saga, Rose)! Finch will be joined by husband David (X-Men, Wolverine), who will lend his legendary talents by serving as cover artist for the series debut issue!

Writer Meredith Finch says, "In an industry filled with strong female superheroes, Xena stands out as a woman who's only super power is her sheer strength of will and character. She has overcome tremendous obstacles to become a beacon of hope for her people and readers alike. I could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to add to her mythos."

Meredith Finch is a comic book writer, best known for her work on DC Comic's Wonder Woman in 2011. Since, she has worked with a number of top publishers and most recently launched her first creator-owned series, Rose, in 2017.

The Xena: Warrior Princess franchise first expanded into comic books in 1997 with several series published by Topps Comics, including crossovers with their Hercules: The Legendary Journeys comics. Two years later, Dark Horse acquired the rights and published a fourteen-issue series. In 2006, Dynamite Entertainment acquired the rights, publishing Xena: Warrior Princess #1-4 (the "Contest of Pantheons" storyline) and a second series, subtitled Dark Xena. Also, two tongue-in-cheek crossover series materialized with Dynamite's long-running Army of Darkness series, as both Xena and AOD had roots at Renaissance Pictures and featured actor and cult film hero Bruce Campbell. In 2015, Dynamite reacquired the Xena license, publishing a new core series, an additional AOD crossover (subtitled Forever and a Day), and high-quality reprints of classic Xena comic books from the 1990s and early 2000s.

"We're proud to be the comic book home for Xena: Warrior Princess, now and for the future," says Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite. "The fit is perfect: between our library of licensed fantasy (A Game of Thrones, Warlord of Mars, Army of Darkness, Wheel of Time, etc.) and penchant for strong, charismatic female protagonists (Sheena, Vampirella, Red Sonja, Barbarella, and more), Dynamite is the perfect arena for the continuing adventures of Xena and Gabrielle! And there could not be a better writer than Meredith Finch to convey Xena's strength and power, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to work with both Meredith and David on this exciting new launch!"

Xena #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors' December 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in February 2018. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of Xena #1 with their local comic book retailers. Xena #1 will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.
